Textile fabric manufacturing uses up a lot of water while producing wastewater with a very high salt content and sometimes high levels of organic pollution. This wastewater would overload public sewage treatment plants. Therefore, the manufacturers themselves must deal with it. This is done under the strict guidelines of zero liquid discharge (ZLD): from reducing the amount of wastewater to completely eliminating wastewater discharge.

Palm oil mills, which use the wet process for extracting oil, produce a large amount of process wastewater: so-called palm oil mill effluent (POME). It contains high concentrations of dissolved and undissolved organic substances. Strict environmental regulations and the goal of sustainable production require efficient POME concentration. This makes it possible to reliably separate water and solids.

Wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) is a widely used method for removing sulfur oxides (SOx), particularly sulfur dioxide (SO₂), from flue gases in coal-fired power plants, waste-to-energy facilities, and other industrial combustion processes. In these plants, a limestone or lime suspension in the absorber absorbs the sulfur dioxide.
