Retrofit for greater efficiency

We optimize existing Taprogge systems, extend their service life, and increase their efficiency through targeted technical modifications. Based on decades of experience with surface waters and their fouling and debris loads around the world, we can offer tailored retrofit solutions to make your systems technically and economically fit for the future. We optimize your Taprogge system’s operation through an extensive system analysis. For this, we draw on operating data, inspections, and application-related expertise to assess the interplay between the cleaning system and the heat exchanger. Our analysis takes account of factors such as fouling, scaling, corrosion, changes in cooling water conditioning, and changes to the tubing system of the heat exchanger. We then derive specific recommendations from this with regard to cleaning intensity and cleaning intervals, ball distribution and cleaning ball type as well as retrofitting existing Taprogge systems.


Service life extension

In many cases, extending the service life of your existing system is more economical than buying a new one. Taprogge offers proven concepts for increasing capacities, preserving tried-and-tested technology, and ensuring lower investment costs compared to a new system. To extend the service life of the overall system in a targeted manner, state-of-the-art subcomponents can be modified or completely replaced.

Retrofitting strainers, filters, and controllers

With these retrofit measures, continuous tube cleaning systems, filters, and controllers can be adapted to changing operating conditions at any time over the entire lifecycle. On top of this, we offer further targeted solutions for improving operational reliability, monitoring of system conditions, and corrosion protection.

HE/TI conversion solution

The HE/TI conversion solution makes it possible to technologically simplify existing first-generation strainers and to adapt them for reliable operation even in challenging operating conditions. This reduces the likelihood of faults in the event of macrofouling and debris, increases ball circulation, and reduces the need for maintenance and spares, as there are fewer moving parts.

TB turbulence filter

The TB/MF modification upgrades TB filters to PR-BW® technology (pressure-relieved backwash). This solution uses the existing housing, increases the debris discharge capacity, can handle worst-case scenarios with high ingress of debris, and optimizes the cleaning process right up to the heat exchanger.

Control panel retrofit

During retrofits, we convert older relay controls into PLC systems and integrate them into central control and display systems, if needed. This means that BRM data (BRM – ball recirculation monitor) and other system statuses are available at a central location, making diagnosis and operation easier and more transparent.

Corrosion protection

You can use our consulting services in the field of anode technology to help you select, design, and optimize suitable solutions for effectively protecting your components against corrosion. For this purpose, we analyze usage conditions, materials, and environmental factors so that we can recommend the right sacrificial anodes.

Ball recirculation monitor (BRM) retrofit

The ball recirculation monitor (BRM) continuously monitors ball circulation and sends signals to the system controller. The device is installed in the system’s control cabinet and displays ball circulation data in real time. This increases operational reliability in large systems, in particular, as discrepancies are identified and assessed automatically.

Monitoring and optimization

Leakage monitoring retrofit for filters

The leakage monitoring system monitors proper functioning of the sealing for the moving actuation chain in real time. Damage and performance losses can occur if water enters the actuation chain. Suitable monitoring solutions detect irregularities early, so that maintenance measures can be planned in a timely manner.

Filter element and strainer surface upgrades

When it comes to more challenging types of fouling such as grasses, shells, or stones, and in the event of changes to the debris load in surface waters over time or over the course of the seasons, we analyze the relevant fouling situation and offer suitable upgrades for filter and strainer elements. The aim is to ensure continuous operation of the cooling water system with reliable ball circulation and filtration.
