Efficiency starts inside the heat exchanger
Klaren heat exchangers, including Klaren evaporators, are self-cleaning systems that ensure consistently efficient heat exchange. A fluidized bed of cleaning particles continuously cleans the inner surfaces of the tubes during operation. The resulting scouring effect on the inner tube wall surfaces prevents fouling from forming. This fluidized bed of cleaning particles is the centerpiece of self-cleaning heat exchangers. It forms the basis for thermally optimized and highly efficient operation.
Effect and benefits in operation
The fluidized bed of cleaning particles ensures a constantly high heat transfer rate. This keeps the plant running in a stable and energy-efficient manner. At the same time, the use of cleaning particles increases cost-effectiveness. The specific advantages quickly become clear during operation:
High plant availability
Unplanned shutdowns for manually cleaning the heat exchangers are avoided. This increases plant output and saves on personnel resources for cleaning purposes.
Greater energy efficiency across the entire system
The continuous cleaning of the heat exchanger keeps the heat transfer rate at a high level. This not only improves the performance of the heat exchanger itself, but also the efficiency of downstream units, for example in ZLD applications. Systems can therefore be designed and engineered to be more compact and operated more energy-efficiently.
Zero fouling thanks to fluidized cleaning particles
The particles are fed into the aqueous medium on the inlet side of the heat exchanger. The upward flow in the heat exchanger tubes keeps them buoyant. This state is referred to as fluidization and the principle behind it is clear: The mechanical cleaning effect of the particles is consistently greater than the rate of deposit formation. This keeps the heat transfer areas free from fouling at all times. This effect is also referred to as “zero fouling”. Metal or ceramic particles can be used, depending on requirements. They have a diameter of a few millimeters. The material, size, and other properties are selected and optimized on a project-by-project basis. This expertise is essential for ensuring the cleaning performance and the efficiency of the overall system.
For processes that require stability
The fluidized bed of Cleaning Particles is the key feature of Klaren Heat Exchangers and Klaren Evaporators. Their strengths are particularly apparent in applications where high energy efficiency and maximum plant availability are crucial for the end-to-end process, especially in the chemical and process engineering industries.
