Compact high-performance filtration for medium volume flows
In cooling water systems, it is vital that macrofouling is handled correctly to ensure efficiency, plant availability, and the protection of downstream components. This is precisely where the PR-BW 800-C comes in: as a compact high-performance solution for medium volume flows and for applications in which a chamber filter is also required for smaller nominal diameters. The system is designed and engineered for DN 600 to DN 1,200 and volume flows of from 900 to 12,000 m³/h and combines a high debris discharge capacity with a highly space-saving design. In this way, the PR-BW 800-C reliably protects shell-and-tube heat exchangers or plate-type heat exchangers and other downstream components against macrofouling and debris. It is suitable both for power plants and for industrial cooling water systems.
How it works
The PR-BW 800-C is based on the tried-and-tested chamber filter principle of the PR-BW series. Radially arranged chambers with segment-shaped filter elements are fitted in the filter section. Perforated sheet, grid, Cling-Free, or other suitable filter elements can be used depending on the type of debris. As a result, the filtration task can be tailored to the type of fouling and to the operating conditions. The filter surfaces retain particles and fibers during operation. When the differential pressure rises to the defined threshold value, the backwash process starts automatically. In this process, the filter surface is set in rotation by a drive and the filter segments pass under a stationary backwash shoe one after the other. This depressurizes the segments, which causes the direction of flow to reverse, dislodging the deposited debris, which is then discharged via the debris discharge pipe. This ensures a reliable backwash cycle with little residue and low pressure loss while using low quantities of flushing water. If foreign bodies are blocking individual chambers, the filter section automatically switches the direction of rotation, thereby ensuring uninterrupted filter operation. Filter finenesses of 2 to 11 mm are available. For many applications, the recommended fineness is 5 mm. Depending on the type of fouling, the PR-BW 800-C can discharge up to 1.9 liters of debris/m3.
The benefits at a glance
- Reliable protection against macrofouling in downstream heat exchangers
- More stable water circuits thanks to the continuous removal of coarse debris
- Low operating costs thanks to low pressure loss, low flushing water quantities, and low drive power
- Short delivery times and cost-effective implementation thanks to standardized components and optimized manufacturing
- Optimizable backwash strategy through preparation for FilterOptimizer and Remote Monitoring Service
For medium volume flows, in particular, the PR-BW 800-C provides a cost-effective, high-performance filtration solution.

Effect during operation
The strength of the PR-BW 800-C lies in the combination of a space-saving design, cost-efficiency, and high operational reliability. With its compact design, the system can be installed where classic chamber filters often cannot. This is a clear advantage when it comes to retrofit projects and when installation space is restricted.
Fields of application
The PR-BW 800-C is ideal wherever high-performance filtration is required for medium volume flows when space is limited. This is a significant advantage, especially when it comes to retrofitting existing plants.
Typical fields of application
- Power plants with open or closed cooling water circuits
- Industrial cooling water systems in the process industry and in heavy industry
- Applications with limited installation space upstream of heat exchangers
- Systems with varying or site-specific debris loads
As a compact high-performance solution, the PR-BW 800-C is therefore ideal for cooling water filtration in industry and energy applications thanks to its reliability, cost-effectiveness, and stabilizing effect in water circuits.
